James & Rachel
Rachel met James in November of 2012 as a co-worker who was newly hired. A casual business friendship blossomed into love when James cleverly tricked his Bride-to-Be into a "date" disguised as a casual dinner with his sister, only having his sister cancel at the last moment so that he could spend the dinner with Rachel. They began dating in secrecy due to their work relationship, and over time discovered all of the odd coincidences and similarities they shared. In Decemeber of 2013, James took Rachel out for a quiet and relaxed evening, where he proposed. James also swept Rachel away to the Stone House Inn for Valentine's day in 2014, where the staff there told them about Fernstone Retreat. Here is what James & Rachel had to say about why they chose Fernstone Retreat:
"We already knew we wanted a rustic wedding weekend and had looked at a few options in the Ohiopyle area but nothing felt right. After we toured Fernstone Retreat, we both immediately knew it was just what we were looking for. We love that we can comfortably host those playing crucial roles in our wedding right on the grounds and we're excited to spend time with family and friends in such a beautiful area of Pennsylvania."
After their perfect day at Fernstone, they will be taking a beautiful honeymoon trip to Kenya, and hope to grow their family by adopting a pot-belly pig!
Jacqueline & Tim
Jackie & Tim started out as neighbors with Tim living in a "crappy" basement apartment and Jackie living on the spacious, natural light filled first floor. For Tim, Jackie was the cute mysterious girl in the apartment above, outgoing and neighborly. For Jackie, Tim was the perfect boy next door. He was funny, looked good in sweatpants, and she could hear his infectious laugh through the floor of the apartment at night while brushing her teeth. This neighborly situation continued for about a year, when one night Jackie invited all of the housemates out for drinks. Jackie & Tim were the only ones home, so they met up early and walked to a local place for their first flirty date before the rest of the housemates arrived. Over the next year, Jackie & Tim's relationship blossomed and they talked about their future plans including a wedding. Tim surprised Jackie with a proposal at a jewlery store where she had found her dream ring a few weeks earlier. They kept it a secret until Christmas when they surprised their family and friends with the great news! Here is what they had to say about why they chose to have their wedding at Fernstone Retreat:
"We wanted to be outside in nature when we got married, our original idea was the beach, but it was too far away and so we looked for beautiful places in Western Pa which of course included the Laurel Highlands. Thats when we found Fernstone Retreat and scheduled a visit! Tim loved it for its landscapes and rustic decors, Jackie loved it for its casual but unique appeal and the amenities."
Tim is excited about campfires with our closest friends and loved ones and the big celebration in the grand oak pavilion.
Jackie is excited about being able to bring in vendors and get creative with the festivities so that we have a ceremony and experience which is super special.

Josh & Joyce
Joyce and Josh met over twelve years ago through mutual friends, but it wasn't until six years ago that they became reacquainted and sparks were flying. Fast forward to Christmas morning of 2012 - As a couple who normally never exchanged gifts, Joyce was surprised when Josh asked her to sit on the couch with her eyes closed while he went upstairs to get her "gift". When he returned and told her to open her eyes, he was on one knee and proposed in front of their family. Joyce was stunned and it took two more times of Josh asking "Will you marry me?" for her to come back to reality and say "YES!". Here is what Joyce had to say about why they chose Fernstone Retreat as their wedding destination:
"We learned about Fernstone Retreat when Josh's sister was invited to a wedding there. Hearing about how beautiful it was, we decided to take a look at the Fernstone Retreat website and after seeing the pictures online we definitely had to see it for ourselves. We scheduled a tour and knew right away that it was the perfect location for our wedding. The property is absolutely fabulous! The location, picturesque scenery, pool and hot tub, game room, ample outdoor space and overall facilities were just amazing. We loved that our guests could stay on property and didn't have to travel or pay for the cost of a hotel."
What are Joyce and Josh looking forward to after they are married?
"Well we already were living together in a house we purchased, so we sort of did things backwards! It is the simple things we look forward to: being lazy together on the weekends, experiencing new places and things together. I am looking forward to him being able to introduce me as his wife!"
